1,000 offer views on Link Road

AN estimated 900 people visited the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road exhibition at Ravenside Retail park at the weekend.

The exhibition allowed members of the public to view the six routes being considered by the county council and decide for themselves which, if any, is the most suitable.

A large proportion of those visitors were thought to be from Pebsham, where Cllr Charles Clark is organising a campaign against the Pink Route, which skirts close to the estate.

Already 1000 residents have submitted county council questionnaires on their preferred route. All of the six routes follow the old railway line from London Road to Sidley, where some then branch to the north and skirt around the Combe Haven Valley, two propose to cross the environmentally sensitive areas with aqueducts while the Pink Route suggests sweeping around Pebsham and running parallel to the A259 before turning sharply north.

They all end up at Queensway near the junction of Crowhurst Road.
