A week of music, art and dance

A WEEK-long celebration of music and art will take place at Claverham Community College between July 2-6 as part of Battle’s Big Event.

The college is teaming up with the East Sussex Music Service, Pestalozzi International Village Trust and Battle Arts to present a week-long programme of music and art events.

From 6-9pm every evening there will be a range of exhibitions and performances, along with open sessions of adult education classes in silversmithing, jewellery making, sugarcraft and cookery and an open rehearsal with Battle Town Band.

Entry is free and visitors can come along at any time between 6-9pm.

All week: Exhibitions around the school: Poetry, Global Dimensions, Art.

Monday July 2: Hastings Area Youth Wind Orchestra, Hastings Area Percussion Ensemble, Claverham Community College Dancers and Pestalozzi students, Hastings Area Keyboard Group. Tuesday July 3: Hastings Area Jazz and Blues Orchestra, Claverham Samba Band, Short Story Competition. Wednesday July 4: Claverham Community College Orchestra, Funk Band, Claverham Guitar Group, Claverham Community College Dancers.

Thursday July 5: Big Sing @ Claverham with pupils from Battle and Langton Primary, Netherfield Primary, Claverham Community College and Battle Light Opera Group, Battle Local Vocals. Friday July 6: Hastings Area Youth Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Ensembles, Battle Town Band Open Rehearsal.
