Accused husband changes his plea

A SEAFORD man who previously pleaded guilty to threatening to kill his wife has changed his plea to not guilty at the eleventh hour.

Robert Desmond, 61, of The Steyne, was due to be sentenced at Lewes Magistrates Court on Monday.

However, Andreas Serghis, defending, said Mr Vincent was suffering from concussion, depression and had drunk a whole bottle of whisky when he made the threat on December 11.

His client had wrongly pleaded guilty, while represented by another solicitor, without any consultation with his family.

Magistrates accepted his changed plea and adjourned the case to be reheard on February 3.
