Adam is reaching for gold

Bexhill College student Adam Rouncivell is celebrating being picked to represent Great Britain at the World Catholic Games next month.

The talented swimmer will be competing in the team relays, the 100 metres freestyle as well as the 50 metre event.

The competition will be tough as he will be facing teams from Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal, Hungary and the host country France.

The format will be similar to that of the Olympic Games with sports such as athletics, football and volleyball taking place.

Adam won two bronzes and two silver medals at the last games in Portugal and is hoping to improve on that this time by grabbing gold.

Adam, who is studying Maths, ICT, Law and Economics, is planning on going to University when he finishes at Bexhill and said "I didn't apply to take part but was invited by the Games' committee '“it came as a complete surprise. I am very excited about the event this year. I am hoping for some gold medals to add to the silvers and bronzes I won last year"

The team fly out from Stansted Airport on July 5 and return on July 11.
