Amy Winehouse’s father promises £10,000 donation to Chestnut Tree House

AMY Winehouse’s dad has announced details of a £10,000 donation to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.

Mitch Winehouse took to his Twitter account to reveal the next donation made by the Amy Winehouse Foundation will be to the Poling-based facility.

The foundation was launched in September, following the singer’s untimely death in July. It was set up in Amy’s memory to support charitable activities that help and care for young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction.

It has also been revealed that Mitch will perform at the charity’s Snowman Spectacular Fund-raising Ball.

Mitch, a taxi driver, was introduced to Chestnut Tree House by a close friend who is also a supporter of the hospice.

He went for a private visit there in October, when he toured hospice’s facilities and met some of the children and families staying there. Then, a couple of weeks later, Chestnut Tree House received a donation of £10,000 from the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

He will also perform at the ball on Saturday, December 3, where he will sing a couple of songs.

Linda Perry, director of children’s services at Chestnut Tree House, said: “We are so grateful to Mitch for visiting the hospice and to the Amy Winehouse Foundation for this very generous donation which will go towards setting up a neonates service to help very young babies who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.

“It will be fantastic to hear Mitch singing at the Snowman Spectacular Ball and to have the chance to thank him in person for his support of Chestnut Tree House.”

Tickets for the ball, at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, have now sold out.
