Another retailer heads to Bognor

Asda is the second national retailer this year to announce plans to open along Shripney Road in Bognor Regis.

The Observer reported last February that Pets at Home was the most likely occupiers of a retail unit proposed for the A29. The company was named as the possible user of the store which would replace the car sales businesses next to the Bognor Regis Retail Park. Land owner Zurich Assurance wants to build the store with 17,590sq ft of selling space in front of the Matalan branch at the retail park's southern end. The application for the store has yet to be considered by Arun District Council.

Planning officer Keith Wheway said highways issues surrounding the proposals had yet to be resolved. Other confidential matters were also the subject of talks between the council and Zurich.

No date had yet been set for a decision to be made about the plans.
