AN appeal date for a proposed amusement arcade in Uckfield has been set for Tuesday January 15. The appeal has been lodged by Nicholas Shaw, of Tunbridge Wells-based Shaw Leisure.

His application for 30 fruit machines at 29 High Street formerly Excell Clothing prompted a storm of protest amongst residents and traders in the summer. The proposal was thrown out by Wealden planners in July.

The appeal will take place at the Wealden District Council offices in Crowborough at 10am. One representative from Uckfield Town Council will be allowed to attend to put forward all objections.
