CHAPEL COFFEE MORNING: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on November 23, 10.30am to noon. All are welcome to join them.

BOOK GROUPS: November’s book is And the Mountins Echoed by Khaled Hosseini. In Afghanistan, motherless 10-year old Abdullah would do anything for his little sister Pari. With their father they set out across the desert to search for work in Kabul. Neither child knows what this fateful journey will bring them. ‘Hosseini breaks your heart and leaves you smiling.’ Daily Telegraph. The evening book group will meet at 8pm on Tuesday, November 24 at Jay’s. The afternoon book group will meet at Brown Bread Street at 2pm on Friday, November 27. PANTS: This year PANTS presents Dick Whittington at Ashburnham Village Hall on November 26 and 27 at 7.30pm and November 28 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Adults £7, children £3 (including a programme and interval refreshments). Tickets are on sale (first come first served). Please use the Ticket Order Form available on the parish website (www.ashburnham-penhurst.net), pick up an order form from The Ash Tree Inn or email: [email protected] requesting an order form. Alternatively, you can call in to collect and pay at village hall on Sundays (2.30pm to 4pm) or Mondays (7.30pm to 8.30pm) until November 23.

PUB QUIZ: The Ash Tree Inn are holding their next Pub quiz on December 1, at 7.45pm. Entry is £1 per person and a set meal of £5 can be ordered. Please call them on 892104 for further details.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: The next Ashburnham and Penhurst Parish Council meeting is on December 2, 7.30pm at the Pavilion. All residents are welcome to attend.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE: The WI are holding their annual Christmas Fayre on December 5, 10am to 1pm at Ashburnham Village Hall. There will be local produce, seasonal stalls, a raffle, WI refreshments and much more on offer. They look forward to seeing you there.

CHAPEL CAROL SERVICE: The Chapel are holding their Carol Service on December 6 at 6.30pm. Music from the Sovereign Band and Ashburnham Christian Trust Choir.

The service will be followed by mince pies, tea and coffee. Offerings will go to Beachy Head Chaplaincy, Winston’s Wish and Dragonflies.

WI: Ashburnham and Penhurst WI are next meeting on Monday, December 11, 7.30pm at Ashburnham Village Hall. This will be a members only Christmas Celebration.

VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on December 16, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30pm. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. Transport can be arranged if needed. For more information or to book a place, give Janet a ring on 01424 89231.

CAROL SINGING: Join the tractor-drawn tinsel-bedecked trailer as they travel from house to house singing carols, and occasionally lingering for mince pies or a warming drink. The tour starts from the Chapel at 6pm and finishes at around 8pm. Wrap up warmly and bring a torch or lantern. As part of the tour of every corner of the village, this year they are going along Farthing Lane, taking in Brigden Hill and ending up at Lattendens. If you would like us to sing a carol (or two) at your home, or would like to offer refreshments to the carol singers, please get in touch with Nicky on 01424 892474.

PRAYER MEETINGS: The Chapel and St Peter’s church are joining together for prayer meetings. These will be held on the second Thursday of the month, 8pm at Ashburnham Church Hall.
