CHARITY RUN: Out of the Blue, who fundraise for Dragonflies, Winston’s Wish and The Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team are holding a series of runs at Ashburnham place, May 14, 6.45 p.m. There is a 10K, 5K and Children’s Dash. WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, May 18, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. The Theatrical Agent to the starts, Simon Beresford, will be talking to the ladies about his work in show business. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on May 20, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: The first meeting of the new council (elected on May 7) will be on Wednesday, May 20 in the Sports Pavilion at 7.30 p.m. where members of the public are welcome to attend.

PLANT SALE: Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are holding a plant sale on May 23 at Ashburnham Sports Field, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. This is your opportunity to stock up on a variety of plants including vegetables, herbs and flowers. There will also be refreshments, garden supplies and a raffle.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Tuesday, May 26, 2.40 p.m. - 3 p.m.

BOOK GROUPS: The May book is “Pigeon English” by Stephen Kelman. The story is about Harrison Opoku, a 7-year old boy newly arrived in England from Nigeria. When one of his school- friends is murdered, Harrison’s action unwittingly endangers his mother and sister. The evening group will meet on May 26, 8 p.m. at Ashburnham Place whilst the afternoon group will meet on May 29, 2 p.m. If you would like to borrow the book or would like further information about either group, please contact Nicole on 894208 or Nicky on 892474.

CHAPEL COFFEE MORNING: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on May 25, 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.
