Brave men in Arundel stand up to cancer – by waxing

Hardy pub-goers in Arundel joined in with this week’s national Stand Up to Cancer campaign raising £1,500 – by waxing various parts of their bodies.

Brave duo Matt Clamp and Andrew Wood took to waxing either their legs or chest while Jon Harris shaved his head during the fund-raiser on Sunday, at the Red Lion pub, in High Street.

Others visiting the pub joined in, with one man shaving off his much-loved beard, which he had been growing for about 16 years.

The event was organised by Sue Clark of the Cancer Research UK store in High Street.

She said it had smashed all her expectations.

“We only hoped to raise about £500 from it, so to get £1,500 is incredible – it’s the best in the area.

“The spirit in during the day was fantastic. All the money is going to a brilliant cause and helping to support all those affected by cancer,” she said.

Stand Up To Cancer raised more than £6m during a live television appeal on Channel 4 on Friday (October 19).
