BREAKING NEWS: Second World War bomb exposed on Lancing beach

BOMB disposal experts and police sealed off part of Lancing beach after a Second World War bomb was discovered near some beach huts.

An eyewitness said the bomb was uncovered near Lancing Sailing Club early this afternoon (Friday, November 27).

He said a police cordon extended for around 200 yards around the bomb.

He said: "It doesn't appear to have been washed up by the tide. It's right by the huts, as far as I can see.

"Maybe the wind has exposed it."

Locals in nearby Shipsdam Road were told to remain in their homes while the removal operation took place.

Police and bomb disposal units left the scene at around 3.5opm.
