BREAKING NEWS: Tarring hit and run - man arrested for attempted murder

A MAN has been arrested for attempted murder in connection with a hit and run accident in Tarring which left a woman fighting for life.

A 35-year-old woman cyclist was seriously injured after she was hit by a car as she cycled along Canterbury Road, near the junction with Friar Walk, at around 10.45pm on Friday (February 29).

Police later seized a white Ford Transit van from an address in Broadwater Hall, Broadwater, which has since been examined by forensic experts, and a 44-year-old man from Worthing, who police say is known to the victim, has been arrested for attempted murder.

The woman was taken to a hospital in Southampton where her condition is described as critical.

DCI Steve Johns from Major Crime Branch said: "It is vital that witnesses come forward, so we can glean the sequence of events leading up to how the cyclist sustained her injuries. We are especially keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a vehicle and the driver, who may have been involved."
