Cyclists st out from Oakmeeds on the highways and byways in the annual event organised by Burgess Hill’s District Lions and Rotary clubs.

Bike ride chairman Malcolm Stephens said: “It was good to see so many cyclists out in the sun, many were first timers but some I spotted in the crowd - like Graham Marchant - have been with us since the 1990s.

“The event made several thousand pounds, which will all go to charity. Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance with the other half divided between the Lions and Rotary Clubs for local charities.

“The Burgess Hill Bike Ride is unique in being organised and run by charities for charities. I would like to thank everyone who helped make it such a success, particularly Mid Sussex District Council for their invaluable support.”
