Charity fashion show

A CHARITY fashion show in aid of Age Concern East Sussex was staged in the Battle Memorial hall.

The event, jointly arranged by Karen Reid and Judy Jeff, managers of the Battle and Bexhill Age Concern charity shops, raised 649, which Karen said was "fabulous", adding:

"The evening was a great success and everyone involved worked hard to put on a good show. M.C. Gary Warren did a fantastic job keeping the audience highly entertained throughout, introducing each model with a good description of their outfits and engaging each person in a brief conversation. Dave and Stella, who arranged the music for the night, helped create a great atmosphere."

Throughout the evening the models wore a range of day and evening wear which Karen said, "showed what a diverse range of clothes are available from the two charity shops", and were available to purchase after the show.

During the interval the audience tucked into a hot & cold buffet, prepared and home-cooked by Sally & Pat. They also had time to browse a small selection of stalls and try their luck on the tombola.

Judi Hill kicked off the second half singing two Connie Francis songs, with 'Stupid Cupid' going down particularly well.

The evening ended with a 'grand raffle', with some prizes generously donated by local business's, including the Co-op Battle High Street, Clambers Hastings, Bexhill Curves Gym, The Local and The Funky Frog.

Judy said: " Thank you to all the business's who supported the evening. The main raffle prize was won by a local lady who bagged herself a 'Day on an ocean liner', which includes lunch and a tour of a cruise liner in Southampton.

"A special mention goes to The Bo-Peep Pub in St Leonards for their very generous donation of 104. All the models who took part put on an amazing show for the audience and the volunteers assisting with the food & drink and on the stalls helped to make the evening a night to remember.

"The evening was so successful the plans for another one next year are already being drawn up."
