Charity link for homeless

SINGLE homeless people in Bognor Regis will benefit from a charity link with one of the town's leading stores.

Bognor Housing Trust has become the first charity to be partnered by the Sainsbury’s store which opened last year.

The deal means the trust will receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness support from the Shripney Road store. The fundraising will start with a rowing challenge in the store in the next three days.

Store manager Tim Maginnis said: “We’ve had a great response from our customers. We’re delighted to have chosen a charity with which many of our customers and colleagues can associate.”

The Sainsbury’s local charity partner initiative is in its fifth year nationally. It has raised £5m-plus so far.

Laura Kottaun, from the trust, said: “We know the success the local charity partnership has bought to so many charities. So, when we received the recent phone call to tell us the news, we were thrilled. The exposure and support is going to be massively beneficial to us.”
