It wowed the judges in the competition's heat at South Parade Pier in Southsea. He will return to the pier on March 22 for the semi-final.

Chris (40) said: 'I will perform It's Not My Day in front of a live audience of around 600 people.

'I have huge support from my family and friends who will be travelling by coach to see me.

'My real job is cabinet making and antique furniture restoration. But I have been writing songs since the age of 12 and it is my dream to get my music published and performed to a wide audience.

'This competition is a great chance for so many of us '˜undiscovered' to show off our talent with a 20,000 recording deal as the top prize. I am certainly going to give it my best shot.'
