City youngsters in the country

CITY kids came to the country to learn what life is like for children living in rural areas.

Hamsey Community Primary School in Cooksbridge played host to more than 20 young visitors from London.

Class 3 children from the village school have been writing to pen pals in year 5 at inner-city St Alban's CE Primary in Holborn.

Headteacher Mike Hirst said: 'Although in some respects the children from the two schools have very different lives, we feel very proud of the way that both classes were very open to one another and the children made friends with ease.

'

This has been a fantastic experience for all our children.'

Children worked collaboratively on orienteering activities and spent time learning together about local wildlife on the school field.

The children also used part of their afternoon to take a walking tour around the village.
