Climping and Ford waste sites could be key to future

Hobbs Barn, near Climping, and the area north of the wastewater treatment works at Ford are two of seven sites deemed as potentially suitable for new waste facilities.

They are listed in literature being published on Wednesday to be used for a public consultation organised by the county council and the South Downs National Park Authority on how they should plan for the management of the county’s waste in the future.

It identifies the amount of waste that will need to be managed up to 2031 and sets out the best possible sites for new facilities, the other five being in Chichester, Warnham, Goddard Green, Worthing and Horsham.

Deputy leader of the council Lionel Barnard, who is responsible for waste matters, said: “Before we finalise this plan we want to find out what communities, businesses and other stakeholders think about the plan and whether it offers the best solution for waste management in the future.”
