Community action day in Littlehampton

VOLUNTEERS got their knees grubby and their fingers green as they took part in a community action day in Littlehampton.

Three employees from Automotive Leasing, in Rustington, helped to clear away the shrubs and weeds to tidy up a piece of land by The Cape.

Mandy Callaway, Rob Sutton and Simon Alterman all took out their spades as part of Automotive Leasing’s annual community action day, last Tuesday.

The trio, who were joined by Arun District Council’s senior parks officer Dee Christensen, spent the afternoon on the patch of land.

Cliff Woolford, of Automotive Leasing, oversaw the day.

He said: “This is the fourth year we have taken part.

“We find that the council often has little projects it needs help with, that we tend to put our hands to.

“There’s a sense of satisfaction, knowing you’ve done something to improve the community and brighten people’s lives.”

In previous years, the company has assisted the Scouts and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice at Poling, as well as the Sussex Wildlife Trust.
