Conker clash returns today

AUTUMN’S annual SCOTCH team conker competition will be held at the Spotted Cow, in Angmering High Street, today (Sunday, October 9).

Teams of three will be competing for a range of trophies and awards in the grounds of the pub, where there will also be a barbecue and raffle and, from 4pm, live music by Peter Bennett.

Entry is from 12.30pm (under-18s must be accompanied by an adult) and matches start at 1.30pm.

As well as trophies for the winners and runners-up of the main competition, there will be a plate tournament for first-round losers, with medals for the winners, and this year there will also be an extra prize for the team or individual with the best fancy dress.

The competition is organised by SCOTCH (Spotted Cow Organisation to Create Help), and proceeds from the event will be donated to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.

SCOTCH provides all conkers and strings.
