Cooker fire Middlesex Road

A smoke alarm alerted a resident of Middlesex Road when her cooker burst into flames on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was described as "a small fire" by Watch Commander Shaun Rogers from Bexhill Community Fire Station who said: "There was hardly any damage at all thanks to the fact she had a smoke alarm, which alerted both her and a neighbour from across the road who came over to help.

"I'd like to stress the importance of everybody having a smoke alark because they save a lot of damage to property as well as maybe your life in the middle of the night."
