Councillor, 80, to cycle 100 miles

Rye councillor Granville Bantick will be undertaking a 100 mile charity bike ride on Sunday at the age of 80.

Cllr Bantick said; “I will endeavouring to complete the London/Prudential Cycle Sportif event to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

“I have so far raised £1,700 but hope to raise more.

“I have now reached the ripe old age of 80 and it does not get any easier. I have been training all through this year building up to 100 miles a week in training. I am just hoping my legs will be able to take the strain!

The ride starts at the Olympic Park in London and follows a 100 mile route around the capital and through the roads of Surrey in a route made famous by the 2012 Olympics.
