Arundel farmland damaged by poachers

POACHERS using an off-road vehicle are thought to have damaged crops in fields around Arundel over the weekend.

The carcass of a fallow buck deer, with numerous dog bites on it, was found in one field.

Police believe the deer’s death is linked to poachers using the off-road vehicle for “lamping” with dogs, between 4.30pm on Saturday (January 7) and 10am on Sunday.

A police spokesman asked people to be aware of unauthorised vehicles on farmland, as well as any suspicious activity late at night.

Suspicious incidents should be reported to police on 101, or dial 999 if the crime is in progress.
