Burgess Hill man convicted in police crackdown

A police statement says that Gregory Pollard, 40, was arrested at 6pm on June 7 after his car was involved in a crash in Manor Road, Burgess Hill.

Pollard, of Northway, Burgess Hill, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis and driving without due care and attention.

He was banned from driving for three years and was ordered to do 160 hours of community service. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

David Jeffrey, 33, was arrested at 10.50pm on 12 June after his vehicle was stopped by officers in Folders Lane, Burgess Hill.

Jeffrey, of Little Victory Mount, Chatham, pleaded guilty to drink-driving. He was banned from driving for 14 months and was ordered to pay a £500 fine, £85 costs and a £50 victim surcharge.

A total of 15 people have so far been convicted of offences after being arrested in June as part of Operation Dragonfly, Sussex Police’s crackdown on drink and drug-driving.

A further 85 people have been charged with offences and released on bail to appear in court.
