Hailsham experiences a decrease in drug use and anti-social behaviour

Police community support officer Charley Reed said, “Over the past there months we have seen a decrease in anti-social behaviour in this area.

“Following continued work by police alongside partner agencies such as the council and housing associations, local residents have seen a decrease in both anti-social behaviour and drug use.

“This included work with the local council to put up cameras in the area and to close specific alley gates to stop people congregating in the alleyway.

“We continue to thank members of the community for providing information and reporting anti-social behaviour and drug use where they see it.

“As well as your information and reports playing a huge part in how we plan our local policing, all reports will also help us to bring any offenders to justice and make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”

Over the last three months Mr Reed has been completing his training and working towards the end of the PCSO apprenticeship programme.

As part of the training Mr Reed has been tackling local issues in Hailsham, which were reported by the community, while working closely with residents and partner agencies in providing support and advice.

Despite this decrease in Hailsham, the county has seen a rise in anti-social behaviour during the pandemic.
