Man arrested for driving offences around Haywards Heath area

A man has been arrested when he failed to stop for officers in Staplefield on Monday night (September 23).

A Vauxhall Astra was seen believed to be travelling at speed on Cuckfield Road at 10.20pm and when officers tried to stop the car, it drove off at speed.

The vehicle drove through Cuckfield and Haywards Heath around the one-way system the wrong way and then down a footpath into Ashenground Woods where it came to a stop.

A 28-year-old man from Crawley was arrested for agrravated vehicle taking, criminal damage, theft, driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance, careless or dangerous driving.

He remains in custody this morning (Tuesday September 24).
