The second annual Love Littlehampton in the Park event, on Caffyn’s Field, braved morning showers to sparkle in the afternoon sunshine.

It was a fitting launchpad for the overall Love Littlehampton Arts Festival, which boasts special events all week and an arts trail taking in 25 venues through to Saturday.

The event was organised by the Littlehampton Organisation of Contemporary Arts (LOCA) and children’s charity Raydar, which will benefit from donations made on the day and from traders’ stall fees.

Staci Mendoza, of LOCA, was delighted with the day’s success.

She said: “It’s great to have something like this in Littlehampton. There was a really warm feeling, a real sense of community, with all the groups finding out about each other and appreciating what they do for the town.

“And we had a wonderful line-up of music, with great MCs holding it all together.

“We have to do all this on a limited budget and we know we have to build it up, but this was better than last year’s event, with toilets, a marquee and the stage.”
