Discover wildlife atDungness reserveduring half-term

THERE will be a chance for youngsters to take a closer look at nature with lots of activities taking lace at the RSPB’s wildlife reserve at Dungeness next week.

Events get underway this weekend and there will be a chance to take part in a wildlife stock-take.

Heather Chantler, who is running the wildlife survey said, “It is going to be a really exciting week. Our colourful wildlife checklist will help visitors to recognise and record the huge variety of nature on our reserve.”

A guided wildlife safari takes place on Sunday from 2pm - 4pm, while on Wednesday (May 29) there are mini-beast stock-takes for families from 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm. There are more family wildlife safaris on Thursday from 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2pm - 4pm.

A pond stock-take will be taking place on Friday 31 between 11am - 3pm when Field teachers will demonstrate the intriguing method for luring out leeches.

Entry to the nature reserve trail is free to RSPB members. There is a small charge for non-members. Access to the visitor centre is free to all.

Dungeness is the oldest RSPB reserve and occupies nearly 1,000 hectares of the Dungeness peninsula.
