Ditchling artist raises £350k for charity from painting sales

Paul Brown, 48, from Ditchling, is aiming to raise funds for Starlight Children’s Foundation, the UK’s leading wish granting charity for children and young people with serious and terminal illness, over the next three years by donating unique pieces from his collection for auction.

Paul, a self-taught artist, has already raised £350,000 for Starlight.

He has been donating paintings to Starlight for auction since 2001 and his works have fetched as much as £44,000 at the charity’s fundraising events.

“Some people donate money or their time to charity, others use their talent to help,” he said.

“I’m very proud that I can use my talent to contribute to such a fantastic charity. I’ve already raised over a quarter of a million for Starlight and I want to double this figure over the coming years so I can continue to help bring some much-needed fun and laughter to very poorly children. I think it’s really important for people to realise that it’s not just money that can help Starlight but their time and talent too.”

Paul has been painting professionally since 1992. He is an impressionist painter, including portraits, landscapes, scenes of London, Venice, Paris and New York, as well as coastal scenes, and paintings of children. Eric Clapton, Sir John Major and the Duke of Richmond are all owners of his work.
