Double celebration for ‘outstanding’ children’s group

Parents and children enjoyed a picnic to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, with each child given a commemorative medal.

But there was another reason to celebrate, as the group had been awarded an ‘outstanding’ grade in a recent Ofsted inspection.

The glowing report states: “Children flourish in the nurturing, safe and very stimulating environment where there is a highly effective partnership between the staff, parents and others.

“The exceptional focus placed on promoting equality and diversity ensures that children develop extremely good self-esteem and are highly valued as individuals.

“Children make excellent progress in all areas of their development because of the high level of care and attention given to identifying their individual learning needs.

“Overall, the highly reflective evaluation processes include parents, staff and children demonstrating an excellent capacity to maintain continuous improvement.”

Sue Prochak, chair of the trustees said: “At our last inspection in 2007, we were one of only five in East Sussex to be awarded the top grade of Outstanding.

“Since then the criteria have changed and we knew it would be a challenge to keep the standard we all aim for.

“This accolade is a result of the hard work, commitment and care of each individual child by all those involved: our wonderful staff, the trustees and particularly our manager, Tracey Maskell.

“We are also extremely proud and appreciative of our very supportive families.”
