Downturn claims well-known architect

THE architects responsible for part of Bexhill Hospital, the station pharmacy and local Sure Start centres have folded in the recession.

Nigel Faulkner, director of Faulkner Associates Limited, chartered architects, said the company was closing "as a result of the severe economic downturn".

In almost 20 years of trading, the Little Common practice, based until now in Village Mews, has been involved in hundreds of schemes throughout the south east, including the hospital's day surgery unit and community health centre, Sidley and Egerton Park Sure Start centres, Eastbourne Station's walk-in medical centre, and the neo-natal unit at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

Remaining projects will be completed, but the practice has now closed.

After 37 years in the profession, Nigel, who is also president of the Rotary Club of Senlac, said: "I would like to thank our clients and express my sincere appreciation to all the staff for their loyalty and hard work over the years."
