Driverless car demo at Hastings MP's transport summit

A self-driving car will be demonstrated at the MP's transport summit on Friday (March 18).

The Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) will show off its prototype autonomous car outside Sussex Coast College Hastings before Amber Rudd’s summit.

TRL’s academy director Nick Reed will also give a speech on driverless cars as part of the meeting.

Other speakers include a welcome from the East Sussex Rail Alliance chairman Ray Chapman and Ms Rudd, before Charles Horton, Govia Thameslink Railway chief executive and Alex Foulds, Southern Railway’s passenger service director talk about trains and the Unizone pass.

Others include Southeastern’s managing director David Statham, Network Rail’s Paul Best, Bexhill and Battle MP Huw Merriman, Stagecoach managing director Philip Norwell and transport under secretary of state Andrew Jones who will discuss dualling the A21.
