Drivers warned - A23 closure tonight

Drivers are advised that the northbound A23 between the Bolney and Pease Pottage junctions will be closed overnight for three nights from last night (Monday) until tomorrow night (Wednesday), between 8pm and 6am each night.

The work is part of a £78m upgrade currently underway on the A23 between Handcross and Warninglid, and involves changing the road layout through the roadworks ahead of the work progressing to a new phase.

A fully signed diversion route will be in place directing drivers between the two junctions via the A272, the A24 Horsham bypass and the A264 to junction 11 of the M23.

This week’s work is planned to go ahead despite the current poor weather; if future nights have to be postponed, new dates will be publicised as soon as possible.

The Highways Agency is advising drivers to allow some extra time for their journeys if they plan to travel while the closure is in place, and to drive with extra care through the roadworks, especially while they adjust to the revised road layout.
