East Preston Festival ‘royals’ ready for their big day

Olivia Bird and Ethan Fincham, year-six pupils at East Preston Junior School, were chosen by children at the school to be this year’s Festival Princess and Prince.

They will take pride of place in this year’s carnival procession on the second Saturday of the festival, June 8.

Trophies sponsored by village estate agent Jane Musgrave were presented to Olivia and Jane at a special school assembly just before the half-term holiday.

And the two runners-up, Ellie Jackson and Mackenzie Oatway, each received a shield.

Children at the school, and neighbouring East Preston Infant School, have also been busy designing covers for the festival programme, in a competition organised by the event’s committee.

Jonanda Richards, five, and Grace Barham, six, were the winners from the infant school, and Fred Tarleton, nine, and Nat Monk, 11, had the best designs from the junior school.

All four have had their pictures used as separate covers for the programme, which gives full details of all the events during the festival and is available now at shops in the village.
