Fancy that '“ it's a great way to raise cash

Five students kick-started Bognor Regis Community College's Children in Need activities by wearing fancy dress.

Sixth-formers Jamie McBurney, Hannah Edwards and Sarah Davies spent last Wednesday encouraging students to donate for the good cause.

They were also joined by Kayley Sangster and Jodie Goble in the fun fundraising activity.

Jamie (16) raised smiles as Mr Blobby, while Hannah (16) became a policewoman and Sarah (17) was Pudsey Bear.

Kayley (16) joined in the fancy dress parade as Tinkerbell, while Jodie (16) was a gun-totin' sheriff.

They raised about 150 through their enthusiastic efforts. Jamie encouraged the others to join in after he gathered 133.10 for Children in Need last year.

"I enjoyed it last year and thought I would do the same thing again. The money is going to such a good cause.

"Everyone supports Children in Need and it benefits a wide range of activities."

The costumes were the prelude to a fancy-dress event throughout the college on Children in Need day last Friday.

At least 1,500 was expected to have been raised by the lack of uniforms.

College deputy headteacher Adam Osborne, the head of the sixth form, praised the efforts of Jamie and his friends.

"It's a fantastic effort and it's all down to them," he said. "They have really helped to raise the profile of our charity day."
