Felpham play area is open fun

SHRIEKS of laughter filled Felpham's newest play area as it was officially declared open for fun.

Amid much noise and excitement, the ribbon signalling the re-opening of the Flansham Lane Play Area was cut.

To celebrate the funtastic occasion, an excited bunch of Year 5 pupils from Bishop Tufnell C of E Junior School descended on the play area, which has been completely revamped by Barratt Homes, to give it their seal of approval.

The school’s headteacher, Shane Morton, said: “The children have definitely had a lot of fun and it is great to see them all enjoying the new play area.

“Members of our school council had a lot of input into the design and it is great to see that their ideas have been so faithfully stuck to.

“Although some of the children who were involved in the design process have now moved on to other schools, it is exciting to see some of our other students enjoying themselves here.

“It has also been pleasing to see how well the developers, the local councils and the school have worked together to create something for the whole community.”

The play area is owned and managed by Arun District Council and now includes a range of swings, climbers, spinners, rockers and even a zip wire.

The work on the Flansham Lane site was carried out by developer Barratt Homes as part of its development of 700 homes nearby.

A skate park, as well as other play areas will also be provided by the developers.

A new bridge access and footpath are also due to be constructed to improve links between the new housing and the green space.
