With heavy showers expected from 4am on Saturday morning, and further widespread rain from 4pm on Saturday, river levels will rise further and remain high on Sunday.

A spokesman said: “Some roads may become impassable, please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding.

“We are running our pumps at Felpham and keeping grilles clear to help reduce the risk of flooding.”
