Free water butts for Chichester, Bognor Regis and Midhurst residents

Southern Water has joined forces with Eco-Faith and the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust (WWT) Arundel Wetland Centre to launch a campaign to help communities across the county become waterwise.

As part of the campaign, the firm is giving away free water butts to community groups and organisations which can put them to good use to help save water as part of conservation projects.

The campaign, which was launched at Arundel Wetland Centre, aims to help protect the environment by encouraging communities to collect rainwater for watering in public gardens and green spaces.

This means less water needs to be taken from rivers and the environment for drinking water supplies.

Jon Crooke, deputy director of Southern Water’s metering programme, said: “Having a water butt is a great way to capture rainwater and store it for garden watering, car washing or even topping up a pond.”

Southern Water wants to hear about conservation work you have done for your community and how you could make good use of a water butt to save water.
