Grant will see return of garden in Aldwick

A £3,000 grant will ensure a sensory garden returns to an Aldwick beauty spot.

The funding has been awarded to the Friends of Marine Park Gardens.

David Garforth, the Friends' chairman, said: "This will be enough to replant the sensory area with over 400 plants and to put a notice in Braille to complete the project.

"Arun District Council's parks and greenspace department are at the moment designing a layout for the area and listing the plants that have a strong aroma.

"We have missed the planting season for this spring, so the planting of the plants will take place this November. This will be carried out by the volunteers from the Friends group."

The award has come from the national lottery's Awards for All scheme. It follows the Friends' determination to put in a sensory garden.

An area in Marine Park Gardens has been set aside at various times for plants which blind and partially-sighted visitors can enjoy.
