Help prostate cancer research

Men affected by prostate cancer, their families and healthcare professionals in East Sussex are being asked to take part in to a new national survey.

The Prostate Cancer Charity is calling on men and women across the county to share their views on prostate cancer research by filling in a short questionnaire.

Their response will help the Charity better understand where those affected by the disease feel more research is needed. The survey seeks to uncover whether there are issues or areas surrounding the causes, diagnosis, treatment and care of men with prostate cancer to help identify critical gaps in knowledge about the disease.

The 13-question survey, which takes approximately ten minutes to complete, is available to download from www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/research or can be obtained as a hard copy by calling 020 8222 7622.

The results of the survey will also be used to inform the work of the Prostate Cancer Priority Setting Partnership, a collaboration of national organisations set up to identify uncertainties about prostate cancer that need to be addressed through research. The Prostate Cancer Charity will also use the results to inform its own research programme and the development of the Charity's policy and campaigns.

The survey is part of the Charity's Prostate Cancer Voices initiative '“ a network of people affected by prostate cancer, including men, their partners, families and carers, who influence the Charity's work by sharing their experiences of the disease.

The closing date for the survey is 16 October 2009.
