YOUNGSTERS will be given white flowers as a sign of peace and tolerance at a Holocaust Memorial Day service on Saturday.

Adur District Council chairman Brian Coomber will present the flowers at the service, which will take place at the East Street war memorial, Shoreham, at 10.30am.

The event, organised by the Royal British Legion, marks the 62nd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and will be attended by representatives from different religions and children from Buckingham Middle School, Shoreham.

The theme of this year's Holocaust Memorial Day is The Dignity of Difference, which provides a focus for people to think about the continuing implications of racism and intolerance in society today.

Mr Coomber said: "We look forward to seeing as many people as possible from our local community, young and old, coming together to remember the atrocities of the Holocaust."
