Househunters gear up for new year move

Homeowners looking to move up the housing ladder to a new home in West Sussex in 2018 are being advised to put their current home on the market now to take advantage of the huge rise in househunters looking online in the first week of the new year.

Michelle Storer, sales director from David Wilson Homes, said that buyers acting now will be able to beat the new year rush and take advantage of the spike in searches in the new year.

Figures from the housebuilder reveal that visits to its own website show a substantial rise in hits in the first week of the year.

Michelle said: "There’s a misconception that nobody’s looking to buy over Christmas and in the new year but actually the opposite is true.

“The first week of 2017 was the busiest time for online searches but there was also a real spike between Christmas and new year.”

She said putting your home on the market in December rather than waiting until spring as many people do, could pay real dividends and showcase your home to a large number of motivated buyers.
