Hundreds turn out in fancy dress for Tilgate parkrun anniversary
The ever popular parkrun, which takes place every week in Tilgate Park combined the birthday celebrations with its annual awards and cake.
The birthday event attracted a record attendance of 559 runners dressed up as super heroes plus a goat who completed the 5km run with his owner, regular parkrunner Susan McDonald in a time of 51:21 - only 35 minutes behind first finisher James Westlake.

Hide AdThe weekly running event started in June 2012 when 171 runners completed the 5km route around Tilgate Park.
Since that time over 7,000 runners have taken part supported by 700 volunteers and weekly attendance figures regularly now exceed 500 participants.
The event saw the annual awards ceremony, where eight awards were handed out including Outstanding Achievement, Volunteer of the Year as well as two awards for the junior runners.
Tilgate parkrun is a free, weekly, timed, 5km run and is open to people of all ages and abilities. There have been more than 3,600 personal bests handed out in the past year and more than 2000 ‘first timers’.

Hide AdJunior runners aged under 11 need to be accompanied by an adult throughout the run. Some parents complete the course with pushing their toddler in a buggy. The run starts at 9am every Saturday morning in Tilgate Park.
