Magpies, Oast House Field

Today at 3pm the big summer fair at Icklesham Primary School starts. Everybody is welcome. Alice in Wonderland is the theme. So much is going on - children’s tombola, barrow of bottles to win, cocnut shy, raffle, bouncy castle, bingo, lucky dip, throw the boot, spin the wheel, mad hatters’ croquet, guess the weight of the cake, barbecue, sangria, Pimm’s, teas, coffees, cakes, savouries, ice cream, football, cake stall, soft sponge throwing, crafts, sweets, face painting andhelium balloons. Plus the children will demonstrate maypole dancing, singing and gymnastics.

Sunday July 14 10.30am Parish Eucharist in All Saints.

4pm-6pm Live Music in The Queen’s Head Martin Blackman Band do covers.

Saturday July 20 monthly Church Market.

Sunday July 21 July Kate and Syd Mylrea host a charity Ploughman’s lunch in the walled garden of Manor Farm Oast in aid of Breast Cancer Care. The lunch will cost £5.50 which includes a glass of wine or a soft drink. Music by Ricochet plus a gigantic raffle and a Pirates’ Treasure Hunt. No entrance fee but telephone bookings are required for the lunch 01424 813787.

Kate has already completed her personal challenge this year which was a 20 mile trek around Leeds Castle and the three mile Race for Life.

Icklesham Players AGM is next Friday July 19 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall. The award of the Joan Baker Memorial Trophy will take place.

Sunday 21 July 21 The Players have auditions for the two one-act plays to be performed in September. Café Society is a hilarious comedy about three elderly ladies who meet regularly in a café to gossip. Last Tango in Grimley follows the fates of the Little Grimley Amateur Dramatic Society as they try to stem the dwindling audiences. They decide a play with more sex in it is needed, The Players are looking for three older women and two couples. Come along to the Memorial Hall at 2.30pm if you would like to audition.

Sunday July 28 4pm The Players are hosting a professional one man show with Martin Wimbush as Wellington. This much-praised play is both written and produced by the well-known actor. Tickets are only £8 and are available from either Icklesham Stores or Nicky Harris on 01424 812996.
