Is this the biggest tomato in Bexhill?
Gardener John Newnham thinks it might be - he cut the beefsteak tomato off the vine at the weekend and claims it was 5" across, 15.5" around, and weighed an impressive 1lb 14.5oz.
John, of Whydown Road, was surprised by the size and said: "I didn't feed it or anything - it just happened. I haven't done anything special to it, let's put it that way. There are one or two other ones which are growing big but nothing as big as that. I think it might be the biggest in Bexhill - it must be a record, unless anyone know any different? Has anyone got a bigger one?"
