Lancasters attract worldwide interest
The opportunity to see the only two Lancaster bombers left flying in the world come together is proving a popular attraction.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is planned for both days of the airshow, Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31, and the sight of the two Lancasters together will never be repeated in Shoreham.

Press officer John Periam said: “Twenty-five years is what this year’s show is all about. It is going to very different, very busy and as a result, there will be some new displays never seen at Shoreham before.
“The airshow office has never been so busy. There has been lots of interest from overseas, with tickets being purchased for Canada, South Africa, Europe, Japan and Australia.
“We haven’t known a ticket response like it. This could well be the most successful show for the 25th anniversary.”

He will have a dual role this year, as the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon, another popular feature at Shoreham Airshow, is also based at Coningsby, under his command.
Mr Periam said: “One man is covering two of the main highlights of the airshow.”
Overall, the flying display will last up to six hours each day, with more than 50 aircraft taking part.

“This is unique and very much a first for Shoreham. Some of the models are very large indeed.”
People are advised to get their tickets early. Mr Periam pointed out it is cheaper and easier to buy tickets in advance. Tickets are £18 for adults, £5 for children aged five to 15, and younger children go free. Prices on the gate are £22 and £8. Visit www.shorehamairshow.co.uk for more details.
