Lancing sex offender banned from Thai trip

A SEX offender has been barred by magistrates from travelling to a "hot spot of child prostitution".

Thomas Stroud, of West Way, Lancing, appeared at Worthing Magistrates' Court on Monday (November 9), when police made an application to stop him travelling to Thailand with another registered sex offender.

He and Tony O'Farrell, from Southampton, were due to leave for the Pattaya region of Thailand on Tuesday.

Stroud, 68, was convicted of possessing indecent images of children in 2006 and sentenced to four months imprisonment and a three-year supervision order.

The Foreign Travel Order, made under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, was only the seventh made in the country and prevents Stroud from travelling to Laos, Cambodia, Thailand or Vietnam for six months.
