Lancing woman's car hit by golf ball

A FLYING golf ball left a motorist with a car unfit for the roads '“ on unlucky Friday the 13th.

Lynn McCarthy, 42, was driving home to Irene Avenue, Lancing, after visiting Worthing with her 65-year-old mother.

As they drove past Brooklands pleasure park, in east Worthing, a golf ball from the nearby pitch and putt course shot across the road and hit the car.

Mrs McCarthy said: "We couldn't believe it. We saw something come through the hedge and the ball hit the headlight.

"It exploded and came up, and landed on the bonnet."

Mrs McCarthy told the Herald she had contacted numerous people, including police and Worthing Borough Council, but had conceded nobody was responsible.

Mrs McCarthy was left more than 90 out of pocket after the accident, and said she wanted to make other people aware of potentially hazardous golf balls.
