Leisure centre given go-ahead

The new pavilion building will service formal sport provision on the recreation grounds, as well as provide the community with a hall and meeting rooms.

Alastair McPherson, from Bolnore Village Residents Association said: “It’s fantastic to hear that planning permission has been granted for our new community centre. A lot of people from Bolnore, and the wider community, have invested a great deal of time and effort to get us to this momentous point.

“We now have firm plans approved by MSDC and we should all feel proud of our achievements. I would like to thank the Mid Sussex District Council team behind the application on behalf of everyone at Bolnore Village. They have worked hard to listen to the views of local people and have produced some extremely exciting plans.

“This scheme will deliver much needed sports and leisure facilities for the village and will provide a real focal point for the local community. I’m really looking forward to seeing work start on the new community pavilion because I know it will provide local people with a great deal of enjoyment.”

The building will be part two storey, part single storey joined by a glazed entrance foyer. The single storey will have four changing rooms, an office and toilet facilities, with a main hall, kitchen and storage areas in the two storey part of the building.

When the Bolnore Village development was agreed, Mid Sussex District Council ensured that land was transferred for use as a recreation ground. Along with this, the developer, Crest Nicholson, gave the council some money towards the cost of building a new sports pavilion and other recreation facilities at the site.
