In a career spanning more than 50 years, Mike has edited a number of trade and consumer publications, including Conferences and Exhibitions, Travel Trade Gazette and Executive Travel before moving to one of the first digital publishing platforms, spending more than 11 years at Business Travel Net as content editor. In 2003, he co-founded Buying Business Travel, a magazine aimed at corporate travel buyers, and remains as managing editor.

The award, introduced to celebrate the 15th year of the BTJAs, recognised his ‘outstanding contribution to business travel and meetings and events journalism – someone who is respected by his peers, colleagues and the industry at large’.

One of his nominees said: “He is truly a stalwart of business travel journalism and is a reason for many of the ideas, events and publications we have in the industry.”

Mike said: “It has been a wonderful career, having taken me all over the world.

“I’ve gone full circle, having started life on a small local newspaper in Esher, Surrey, and now editing The Wildbrooks Magazine, which serves the parishes of Amberley with North Stoke, Parham, Greatham and Wiggonholt.

“It doesn’t get much more parochial than that.”
